Battery Storage Installation Bayside Melbourne

CEC-accredited home battery installation across Bonbeach, Chelsea, Carrum, Cheltenham, Frankston and surrounding bayside suburbs — sized from your actual usage data, not a sales brochure.

A-Grade Licensed Electrician CEC Accredited Tesla Certified Installer

Battery storage installation is what Jack Jones Electrical does every week across bayside Melbourne — Bonbeach and Chelsea, Carrum and Edithvale, Cheltenham, Mentone and Frankston — not the wider Melbourne metro area. Whether you’re adding a battery to an existing solar system or installing a complete solar and battery package, Jack designs the system around your actual energy usage rather than a generic off-the-shelf package. He handles the whole job: reading your interval data, sizing the battery, assessing your switchboard, installing and commissioning the system, and issuing your Certificate of Electrical Safety.

What local customers say

The federal battery rebate is still live

Around 30% offthe upfront cost of an eligible home battery

The Cheaper Home Batteries Program discounts eligible battery systems through the same small-scale certificate scheme that already discounts solar. A few things worth knowing:

  • It comes off your invoice up front — there’s no form to chase afterwards
  • The rate steps down each year, so the discount only gets smaller from here
  • The full rate applies to the first portion of capacity, then tapers on larger systems
  • It applies to batteries added to existing solar, not just new installs

Your exact figure depends on your battery’s usable capacity and the certificate price on the day. Jack confirms the number on your written quote — as an A-Grade licensed, CEC-accredited installer, he can claim it on your behalf.

Why install a battery?

A home battery lets you store excess solar energy generated during the day and use it at night, reducing your reliance on the grid and protecting you from rising electricity prices. With the right system, many households can substantially reduce their electricity bills. A battery also gives you backup power during an outage — something solar panels alone can’t provide, since most solar systems shut down automatically when the grid goes down.

How a battery works with your solar

During the day, any solar energy your panels generate beyond what your home is using goes to the battery instead of being exported to the grid for a low feed-in tariff. Once the battery is full, any further surplus exports as usual. In the evening, your home draws from the battery first before pulling from the grid — so the goal of a well-sized system is to get you through the evening peak on stored solar rather than paying peak rates.

This is where sizing matters more than brand. Jack models it from your actual interval data, so the battery matches your real evening usage rather than being an oversized unit that never fully discharges — or an undersized one that runs flat by 9pm.

Battery brands we install

Each of these has different strengths depending on your home’s energy profile, your existing solar setup, and your budget. Jack recommends the right fit for your situation rather than defaulting to a single brand:

Sigenergy SigenStor

Modular stacked design — capacity can be added later as your usage grows.

Tesla Powerwall

Installed by a Tesla Certified Installer, with the app and monitoring most people already know.

BYD

Modular battery systems that pair with a wide range of hybrid inverters.

Enphase

A natural fit if you already run Enphase microinverters on your roof.

Retrofitting a battery to existing solar

Already have solar but no battery? Jack can assess your existing system and install a compatible battery in most cases. He’ll review your inverter, switchboard and consumption data to work out the best option — including whether your current inverter is already battery-ready or whether a hybrid inverter upgrade makes more financial sense than an AC-coupled battery.

Where your battery gets installed

A battery doesn’t have to go inside the house. Garages, sheds, carports and other outbuildings are all common locations, provided there’s a suitable wall, adequate ventilation and a reasonable cable run back to your switchboard. Victorian installation rules also restrict where batteries can be mounted relative to habitable rooms, which rules some spots out regardless of how convenient they look. Jack assesses your property and recommends a location that’s both compliant and practical — not just wherever’s closest to the existing wiring.

Do I need a switchboard upgrade?

Sometimes. A battery system needs appropriate protection and space on the board, and some older bayside switchboards don’t have the capacity for it. Jack assesses your switchboard, mains and existing loads before quoting, so you know up front whether the job is a straightforward install or includes board work.

Adding an EV charger later

If an electric car is on the horizon, it’s worth mentioning at the assessment. Sizing the battery and switchboard with a future EV charger in mind costs very little now and saves a second round of board work later — and a solar-aware charger can pull from the same stored energy.

Warranties and ongoing support

Every battery Jack installs comes with manufacturer warranty cover, and every job is backed by a Certificate of Electrical Safety. As a sole operator, Jack is also the person you call directly if you have a question about your system down the track — not a call centre, and not a subcontractor who’s moved on to the next job.
