Most current BYD models (Atto 2, Atto 3, Dolphin, and the Seal range) have a 7kW onboard AC charger, so a standard single-phase supply charges them at their full rate: roughly 35–40km of range added per hour, comfortably topping up overnight. A handful of higher-spec models — the Atto 1 and Sealion 7 — accept up to 11kW AC, so on a three-phase supply they charge noticeably faster, around 55–60km of range per hour. Installing a charger rated higher than your car’s onboard limit won’t speed things up — the car’s own limit always applies — which is exactly the kind of detail worth confirming before paying for hardware you can’t fully use.

If you drive one of BYD’s plug-in hybrid models — Sealion 5, Sealion 6, Sealion 8, Seal 6, or the Shark 6 ute — home charging is still worthwhile, though these typically accept AC power at a lower rate than the full-electric range.
